Getting Started
- How do I create an account?
- Open the app and you'll see the welcome screen. Choose Continue with Google to sign in with your Google account, or Create Account to sign up with email. For email sign-up you'll enter a display name, email, and password (min 8 characters). After signing in or creating an account, you're taken to the Home screen where you can join or create groups.
- How do I join a group?

From the Home screen, tap Join Group (or use the join option in the empty state if you have no groups yet). Enter the invite code your friend shared (e.g.
PURSUE-ABC123-XYZ789), or tap Scan Code to scan a QR code. You'll see a confirmation screen with the group name and member count — tap Join to join. You can also open an invite link (e.g. getpursue.app/invite/CODE) on your phone to open the app and join directly. - What's an invite code?

An invite code is a unique code for a group (e.g.
PURSUE-ABC123-XYZ789). Group members can generate and share it from the group's Invite Members screen — they can copy the code, share it via messaging or social apps, or share a link (getpursue.app/invite/CODE). Anyone with the code or link can join that group. By default, invite codes don't expire and have unlimited uses; admins can change these settings.
Using Pursue
- How do I log progress?
- On the Today screen, tap a goal card to log progress. For binary (yes/no) goals, one tap marks it complete and you'll see an undo toast for a few seconds. For numeric goals (e.g. miles, pages), a quick-entry dialog opens — enter the value and optional note, then tap Log. You can also open a goal from the Group Detail screen and log there. Your group gets a push notification when you log.
- Can I edit or delete progress entries?
- Yes. If you've already logged for today, tap the same goal card again. For binary goals you'll get a "Remove today's log?" confirmation — tap Remove to delete the entry. For numeric goals an edit dialog opens where you can change the value or note, or tap Delete Entry to remove it. You can also edit or delete your own entries from the Goal Detail screen (long press on an entry for options).
- What are the different goal types?
- Goals can be Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly. Each goal is either Binary (yes/no — e.g. "Did you meditate?") or Numeric (distance, time, or count — e.g. "Run 3x per week", "Read 30 pages", "Miles per month"). Admins create goals and choose the cadence and metric type; members log progress against them. Examples: daily habits (meditate, run), weekly targets (gym 3x, call parents), monthly milestones (read 2 books), yearly goals (run marathon).
- How do I invite friends?
- Open the group, go to the Members tab, and tap the Invite (person-plus) button. You'll see the group's invite code and a QR code. Use Copy to copy the code, or Share to send it via your apps. You can also copy a link (getpursue.app/invite/CODE) so friends can open it on their phone and join. Any member can invite; you don't need to be an admin.
Managing Groups
- How do I create a group?
- From the Home screen, tap the + (FAB) button. Enter a group name (required), and optionally add an icon (emoji or uploaded image), description, and initial goals. Tap Create and you'll be taken to the new group. You're added as the creator and an admin. On the free plan you can have one group; Premium allows unlimited groups.
- What's the difference between admin and member?
- Admins can edit the group (name, icon, description), create and edit goals, manage members (e.g. make admin, remove from group), and change group settings. The creator is a special admin who can also delete the group. Members can view goals and activity, log their own progress, and invite others — but they can't create goals or edit group details. Admins see an "Add goal" button on the Goals tab; members don't.
- Can I leave a group?
- Yes. Open the group, tap the overflow menu (⋮) in the header, and choose Leave Group. You'll be removed from the group and it will disappear from your Home list. If you're the creator and want to shut down the group entirely, use Delete Group instead (creator only); that permanently deletes the group, all goals, and all member progress for that group.
- How do I delete a group?
- Only the group creator can delete a group. Open the group → overflow menu (⋮) → Edit Group. At the bottom, tap Delete Group. You'll see a confirmation explaining that this permanently deletes all goals, member progress, and activity and cannot be undone. Confirm to delete; you'll be taken back to the Home screen and the group will be removed for everyone.
Premium
- What's included in Premium?
- Premium ($30/year) includes unlimited groups (free is 1 group), all the same features as Free (unlimited members per group, all goal types, progress tracking), and priority support. Most users stay on the free plan; upgrade when you need more than one group.
- How do I upgrade?
- In the app, go to your profile or account settings and look for the upgrade or Premium option. You can also visit the Pricing page on this site for an overview. Payment is processed through the Google Play Store (Android). No credit card is required to start with the free plan.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. You can manage or cancel your Premium subscription through your Google Play account settings. If you cancel, you'll keep Premium until the end of your current billing period; after that you'll revert to the free plan (one group). Your data is not deleted.
Troubleshooting
- App won't sync
- Check your internet connection. If you see "No internet connection" or "Offline — showing cached data," the app is using cached data and will sync when you're back online. Try pull to refresh on the Home or Today screen to fetch the latest data. If you see a "Server error" or "Request timed out," wait a moment and try again. If sync still fails, force-quit the app and reopen it, or log out and back in. If the problem continues, contact [email protected].
- Notifications not working
- Ensure app notifications are enabled in your device settings (Settings → Apps → Pursue → Notifications). Pursue sends push notifications when someone in your group logs progress, when a new member joins, and when group details change. If you've just installed or reinstalled, sign in again so the app can register for notifications. On some devices, battery saver or "optimization" can block background delivery — try allowing Pursue to run in the background if notifications still don't appear.
- Can't join group with invite code

Double-check the code: it's usually in the form
PURSUE-XXXXXX-XXXXXX. Avoid extra spaces at the start or end. If you're using a link, open it on the same phone where you have (or will install) Pursue — invite links are meant to open the app or the store. If the code was shared a while ago, the group admin may have changed or disabled the invite; ask for a fresh code or link. If you still can't join, email [email protected] with the group name and what you see on screen.
